Rosignano Marittimo restaurant theft suspect identified after returning to scene

A man has been identified and reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Tribunal of Livorno after allegedly stealing approximately 1,000 euros from a seaside restaurant in Rosignano Marittimo.

The theft occurred on August 5, 2026, when the individual took advantage of an empty kitchen area to steal cash and personal effects. Although the incident was captured by the establishment's surveillance cameras, the perpetrator's identity remained unknown to investigators for two weeks.

The case was resolved on August 20, when a relative of the restaurant owner recognized the man on the seafront. The individual was observed returning to the same restaurant and entering the warehouse, prompting a call to emergency services. Police from the Rosignano Solvay station intercepted the man inside the premises and used the comparison between the original theft footage and the new encounter to confirm his identity.
