Rosmalen historical society seeks archives as guilder exchange deadline approaches
The Heemkundekring Rosmalen is requesting historical items and photographs to preserve the local history of Rosmalen. The organization is looking for images of buildings, people, or materials from local (sports) associations to expand its image bank. Donors can have their photos returned after they have been scanned. Additionally, the group will soon have exhibition space in Perron-3 to display historical objects and models, including a large model of northern Rosmalen and a model of a Red Cross train from the Second World War.
Separately, De Nederlandsche Bank continues to exchange most Dutch guilder banknotes for euros until January 1, 2032. Eligible notes include various denominations featuring subjects such as Frans Hals, the lighthouse, and Spinoza, at a fixed rate of 2.20371 guilders to one euro. However, certain notes, such as the 'geeltje' (25-guilder note with Sweelinck), can no longer be exchanged. The bank advises collectors to check if a note's value to collectors exceeds the official exchange rate before proceeding with an application.
