Ross Black jailed for cocaine trafficking and laundering £700,000

Ross Black, a 33-year-old former welder from Dalgety Bay, has been sentenced to four years in prison following an investigation into his involvement in cocaine supply and money laundering.

Black was flagged by Monzo bank after his account activity raised suspicions. Despite claiming to work on a manufacturing production line, his account saw a turnover of approximately £43,724 in just two months. Further investigations revealed he had amassed a total of £709,623 in cash and various bank and savings accounts, despite having no recorded employment or tax payments since February 2021.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Black pleaded guilty to supplying Class A drugs between October 2022 and October 2023, as well as possessing criminal property. While facing a potential six-year sentence, Judge Lord Summers reduced the term to four years in recognition of his guilty pleas.
