Rossano prepares for 2026 Achiropita religious celebrations

The Archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati is preparing for the 2026 Achiropita Diocesan Festival, centered on the veneration of the Virgin Achiropita. A major highlight of the festivities is scheduled for August 12, 2026, at the Rossano Cathedral, featuring a solemn Eucharistic concelebration presided over by Mons. Giuseppe Satriano, the Archbishop of Bari-Bitonto and former pastor of the diocese.

In preparation for the 2026 celebrations, the community has already engaged in religious observances, including a Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom presided over by Mons. Donato Oliverio, Bishop of the Eparchy of Lungro. This event emphasized the communion between the Byzantine Church of Lungro and the Archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati, representing a meeting of Eastern and Western traditions within the Catholic faith.
