Rostec doubles annual Su-34 fighter jet production
The Russian state defense organization Rostec has announced an intensification of Su-34 fighter jet production. Annual production is expected to double to nearly 30 aircraft per year by 2025 compared to levels seen before 2022.
The Su-34 is a heavy fighter jet designed primarily for Russia’s domestic strategic needs rather than the international export market. It is noted for its endurance and its ability to deploy large glide bombs, such as the FAB-3000, which are used to target reinforced underground structures.
In the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, these aircraft have been documented using various air-to-ground missiles, thermobaric weapons, and heavy glide bombs. Rostec continues to implement upgrades to the aircraft based on technical data and practical experience gathered from active combat situations.
