Rostec integrates active defense system into Yak-130M aircraft
The third prototype of the modernized Yak-130M combat and training jet has successfully completed its maiden flight. Produced by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, this variant features expanded combat capabilities compared to the original trainer model.
A key technological advancement in this prototype is the integration of the Prezident-S130 active defense system. This airborne defense system is designed to enhance aircraft survivability through a three-stage automated process: detecting incoming missile launches, deploying electronic countermeasures to blind guidance systems, and releasing infrared flares and radar chaff to divert threats.
Rostec stated that the addition of this third prototype is intended to accelerate flight testing and certification processes. The first production deliveries to customers are currently scheduled to begin in 2028.
