Rostec unveils Mi-38PS Arctic helicopter for Northern Sea Route

Rostec has unveiled the Mi-38PS Arctic helicopter, designed specifically for operations along the Northern Sea Route. Introduced at the 16th International Integrated Security and Safety Exhibition in Kazan, the aircraft is produced by the Kazan Helicopter Plant for the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Mi-38PS Arctic features a record-breaking range for Russian helicopters, exceeding 1,500 km when equipped with auxiliary fuel tanks. It is capable of transporting up to 5 tons of cargo or 40 passengers. The helicopter is intended for various roles, including medical missions, search and rescue, and cargo transport in extreme weather conditions.

The first batch of helicopters is scheduled for delivery to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in 2025, with additional units expected by the end of 2026. These aircraft will join the fleets of the Integrated Aviation Rescue Centers in Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk to enhance operations in the Far North.
