Rostków hosts ceremonies for Saint Stanisław Kostka jubilee
The Jubilee Year commemorating the 300th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Stanisław Kostka has officially commenced in Rostków, Poland, the saint's birthplace. The inauguration featured a solemn procession of his relics from Przasnysz to Rostków, accompanied by members of the Catholic Youth Association of the Płock Diocese.
A central Mass was celebrated in Rostków, presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, alongside Bishop Szymon Stułkowski and other regional clergy. During his homily, Archbishop Filipazzi emphasized the relevance of Kostka’s life for the younger generation, citing the saint's motto, ‘Ad maiora natus sum’ (I was born for greater things).
As part of the jubilee celebrations, a relay pilgrimage is currently traveling from Vienna to Rome, retracing the path Kostka took to join the Jesuit order. The festivities aim to highlight the saint's spiritual legacy and his historical connections between Poland, Austria, Germany, and Italy.
