Rostock prepares for 2026 state election

Rostock is preparing for the state election (Landtagswahl) scheduled for September 20, 2026. The city has established 134 polling districts, which will be open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on election day.

Eligible voters will receive their official election notifications by August 29. Postal voting (Briefwahl) is set to begin on August 31 at the voter registry and postal voting office located on Industriestraße. Voters can request documents via mail, email, app, QR code, or fax, though telephone applications are not permitted.

To ensure timely delivery, officials recommend requesting postal ballots by September 16. Completed ballots must be received by the designated office no later than 6:00 PM on election Sunday. In exceptional cases, such as sudden illness, applications can be submitted until 3:00 PM on election day.
