Rostock Seawolves fans suspected in attack on Greek basketball bus

A bus carrying approximately 70 fans of the Greek basketball club Aris Thessaloniki was attacked with pyrotechnics on the A20 motorway near Rostock, Germany. The incident occurred on the evening of October 21, 2026, as the supporters were traveling toward Lübeck following a EuroCup game against the Rostock Seawolves.

According to police reports, signal flares and other pyrotechnics were launched at the moving vehicle, with one projectile piercing a passenger-side window. The driver managed to steer the bus safely onto the hard shoulder. No injuries were reported among the passengers.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Interior Minister Christian Pegel and the Rostock Seawolves organization have both condemned the attack. The Seawolves expressed shock, noting that such violence has no place in sports and has never occurred in the club's history. Police are investigating the incident on suspicion of dangerous interference with road traffic and attempted dangerous bodily harm.
