Rot-Weiss Essen signs midfielder Paul Pöpperl

Rot-Weiss Essen has officially signed 23-year-old central midfielder Paul Pöpperl. The player, who has been without a club since the summer, joins the team following a period of injury recovery.

Pöpperl brings experience from the 2. Bundesliga with FC Schalke 04, the 3. Liga with Viktoria Köln, and the Dutch second division with VVV-Venlo. He is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament tear sustained in February.

Club director Marcus Steegmann stated that the club is aware Pöpperl will need time to regain match fitness. The intention is to support his rehabilitation through training so that he can be integrated into competitive play, ideally following the winter break.
