Rota das Bandeiras reports historic low road fatalities in São Paulo's Corredor Dom Pedro

The Corredor Dom Pedro road network, managed by concessionaire Rota das Bandeiras, recorded its safest first half of 2026 with only 15 fatalities, a drop of nearly 50% from the 28 deaths in the same period of 2025 and well below the 35 deaths recorded in the first half of 2010. The improvement follows a series of safety and infrastructure investments totalling R$ 4.4 billion, including full duplications of key sections, geometric redesign of interchanges, and the addition of marginal lanes, pedestrian overpasses and energy‑absorbing terminals on guardrails.

Emergency response times also improved, with the pre‑hospital rescue team averaging 6 minutes 26 seconds to reach accident sites, well under the 10‑minute maximum stipulated in the concession contract. More than 80% of accident victims left the scene without serious injuries. The concession operates eight Service Assistance Units, seven ambulances, ten tow trucks and a network of 95 monitoring cameras, with call‑box phones placed every kilometre. Rota das Bandeiras has won the Operational Services Efficiency award of the Concessionária do Ano three times.

The corridor spans six highways across 17 municipalities in the interior of São Paulo, serving about 2.5 million residents and linking the Vale do Paraíba, the Metropolitan Region of Campinas and the Fruit Circuit.
