Rota Palagruzona maritime festival announced for 2026

The Rota Palagruzona maritime festival is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 13, 2026, in Komiža and on Palagruža. The five-day event features traditional shipbuilding workshops, rowing, lectures, and gastronomy.

The festival includes the 18th edition of the renewed regatta, which follows a historical route for traditional Komiža boats. The regatta is noted for its long history, with the earliest documented records dating back to 1593 when local faluše sailed to Palagruža for fishing.

Key activities include a tour of Komiža, rowing schools, and a central regatta departing from the Komiža waterfront on September 11. The program also features a traditional Papina večera on Palagruža and celebrations marking 150 years of light on Croatia's Adriatic gates.
