Rotary Club in Juárez delivers 1,500 cleft lip and palate surgeries

The Rotary Club Juárez Paso del Norte’s “Mil Sonrisas” program celebrated World Cleft Lip and Palate Day by highlighting its work providing reconstructive surgery for children with cleft lip and palate. Since its inception, the initiative has facilitated around 1,500 surgeries, improving patients’ speech, hearing, nutrition and self‑esteem.

Director of medical services José Luis Carvajal emphasized that timely surgery enables better feeding, clearer speech and greater confidence, transforming the future of affected families. The club continues to mobilize specialists, hospitals, volunteers and donors to expand access to comprehensive care for hundreds of children each year.
