Rotary District 2110 honors women for social and educational leadership

Rotary District 2110 Sicily and Malta held an event in Agira to honor women through the “History of Extraordinary Women” initiative. The project, led by District Governor Lina Ricciardello, aims to highlight female leadership and social impact across various professional and cultural sectors.

Ielsa Speciale, director of the “La dimora delle virtù” socio-educational center near Augusta, received an award in the social category. Her work focuses on providing innovative support for youth with disabilities and neurodivergences through daytime programs, housing, and creative workshops aimed at fostering autonomy and community inclusion.

Ornella Cottone, a school principal from Trapani, was also recognized for her educational leadership. The Rotary Club Trapani highlighted her efforts at the “Bassi – Catalano” Comprehensive Institute, specifically her work in promoting social cohesion, combating school dropout rates, and fostering innovation within the local community.
