Rothschild & Co to consult on privatization of Ukrainian state banks

Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance, led by Sergey Marchenko, has signed an agreement with the financial group Rothschild & Co to provide preparatory consultancy services for the privatization of Ukrgasbank and Sense Bank. These institutions are among the largest in the Ukrainian financial system.

Rothschild & Co will be responsible for conducting asset inventories, assessing financial health, organizing data, and attracting potential buyers. The Ukrainian government stated that the move aims to reduce the state's role in the banking sector and attract foreign investment, following recommendations from the IMF.

This follows previous involvement by Rothschild & Co in Ukraine, including advisory roles regarding debt restructuring and the structural unbundling of the state oil and gas company, Naftogaz.
