Rotterdam apartment fire forces evacuation of eight homes

A large fire broke out in a porch apartment building on Stadhoudersweg in Rotterdam-Noord on Sunday evening. The blaze originated in a residence on the top two floors and spread to an adjacent unit, causing fire, smoke, and water damage to multiple dwellings.

Emergency services evacuated the building and surrounding homes. While all residents were able to leave safely and no injuries were reported, eight households are currently unable to return to their homes due to the extent of the damage. The municipality is providing temporary shelter for displaced residents near Eudokiaplein, and Stichting Salvage is assisting with emergency accommodation. The cause of the fire remains unknown pending an investigation.
