Rotterdam caravan site shortage under scrutiny by DENK

The DENK party in Rotterdam has submitted written questions to the city administration regarding the shortage of caravan sites (woonwagenstandplaatsen). Since the implementation of a new policy in 2020, which moved away from an extinction policy to one focused on expansion, only five new sites have been realized.

The party is seeking data on the total number of sites currently available, the number of applicants on waiting lists, and the average waiting times. Additionally, DENK is questioning the feasibility of expanding existing locations and the status of plans for a new site, specifically requesting clarification on why expansion at the Bijenpark in Lombardijen was deemed spatially and environmentally undesirable.
