Rotterdam Marathon: halfway leaders on track for course record as Shimeles sets women's mark

The 45th edition of the Rotterdam Marathon is already halfway, with a thinned lead pack on the way to the finish on the Coolsingel. The question remains whether the course record will be broken in Rotterdam. Shimeles, a 20-year-old Ethiopian runner, set a new women's course record by clocking 2:18:56, finishing two seconds faster than the previous record. Adola won the men's race.
