SMM maritime trade fair to convene in Hamburg with Rotterdam innovation delegation
The SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology) trade fair is set to convene in Hamburg, serving as a major international hub for the maritime industry. The event is expected to host approximately 2,300 exhibitors and 50,000 participants, showcasing technological innovations and world premieres across the maritime value chain.
A delegation of 17 startups and scale-ups from the Rotterdam and South Holland regions will participate in the mission to explore new international opportunities. Led by Tim Versnel, the Alderman for Port and Economy, the delegation aims to connect Dutch maritime innovators—specializing in future ship design, crew training simulators, and cleaner shipping technologies—with global partners, customers, and investors.
The exhibition features significant international involvement, with companies from 70 countries and participants from 120 nations. Major maritime markets, including China, Japan, South Korea, and India, maintain a strong presence, while countries such as Cyprus, Vietnam, and Brazil will debut their own national pavilions.
