Rotterdam monumental office building transformed into housing

A monumental office building on the Westersingel in Rotterdam has been transformed into a residential complex. Designed by MoederscheimMoonen Architects in collaboration with NOV’82 Architecten for Westborg, the project converted the municipal monument into 19 sustainable homes.

The building, which was originally part of the Diaconessenhuis and later served as an office for a rehabilitation center, has had its original architectural qualities preserved. The restoration focused on maintaining characteristic details, original materials, and proportions, including the preservation of the building's central spiral staircase.
