Rotterdam municipal WMO spending under scrutiny

The political party Leefbaar Rotterdam has submitted formal inquiries to the city administration regarding the high per-user expenditure for the Social Support Act (WMO) in Rotterdam compared to similar municipalities.

Leefbaar Rotterdam is seeking clarification from Alderman René Segers-Hoogendoorn on whether these higher costs translate into improved care and support. The party has requested a breakdown of spending across categories such as household assistance, guidance, tools, and protected housing. They are also questioning whether the increased costs are driven by the severity of care required, provider rates, or specific implementation choices.

The party emphasized that higher spending is only justifiable if it results in demonstrable benefits, such as shorter waiting times or higher client satisfaction. They have called for the city to demonstrate how it prevents providers from delivering more or more expensive care than necessary and how it ensures efficient allocation of resources.
