Rotterdam party PRO seeks more outdoor swimming locations

The Rotterdam political party PRO is calling for increased opportunities for outdoor swimming within the city. The party has requested that the municipal executive investigate the potential return of the historic Maasbaden near Noordereiland, describing it as an “iconic way” to expand swimming areas.

Additionally, PRO is inquiring whether sections of the Rotte river could be made suitable for official swimming, specifically looking at areas between the Zaagmolenbrug and other points, despite previous concerns regarding recreational boat traffic. The party argues that these measures are necessary to meet the public demand for cooling off during warm weather and to prevent citizens from swimming in unauthorized, potentially unsafe waters.
