Rotterdam political party seeks clarity on park homelessness and hygiene

The political party DENK has called for clarification from the Rotterdam city government regarding issues related to long-term homelessness in public parks. The party reported instances of individuals living in tents and using parks as toilets, which has raised concerns among residents regarding hygiene and the livability of public spaces.

Faouzi Achbar, representing the DENK faction, has submitted written questions to the mayor and aldermen. The party is seeking data on the number of known locations where people are sleeping outdoors and the volume of reports concerning pollution and waste over the last two years. DENK emphasized that while homelessness is a major societal issue requiring appropriate aid and housing, parks must remain clean, safe, and accessible to all citizens.
