Rotterdam VVD demands tougher action against Oosterkade disturbances

The VVD political party in Rotterdam is calling for stricter measures to combat ongoing disturbances on the Oosterkade. Residents report that groups of youths gather there almost every night, particularly from 11:00 PM onwards, causing significant noise from loud music and accelerating vehicles.

Complaints from locals include illegal parking, littering, and noise levels so high that residents are unable to sleep in their bedrooms. There are also suspicions among neighbors regarding drug dealing at the location. The VVD has submitted formal inquiries to the municipal executive, requesting data on reported incidents over the past year, the effectiveness of existing measures, and whether the area can be designated as a hotspot under the city’s traffic nuisance approach to allow for tools like noise flashers.
