Rouanet nas Favelas announces R$ 10 million for urban community projects

The Rouanet nas Favelas program has opened applications for its second edition, aiming to distribute at least R$ 10 million to cultural projects located in favelas and urban communities across eight Brazilian cities.

In partnership with Vale and the Central Única das Favelas (CUFA), the Ministry of Culture initiative will select at least 50 proposals, with each project eligible to receive up to R$ 200,000. The program targets Belém, Belo Horizonte, Distrito Federal, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Luís, São Paulo, and Vitória, ensuring a minimum of R$ 1 million is allocated to each location to promote geographic diversity beyond the Rio-São Paulo axis.

Eligible categories include performing arts, visual arts, audiovisual, humanities, music, cultural heritage, museums, and memory. Applications must be submitted through the Salic system by October 13.
