Rough Trade celebrates 50th anniversary with Japan events

Rough Trade, the influential independent record label and shop founded in London in 1976, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of events in Japan.

To mark the milestone, anniversary performances are scheduled for September 30 in Osaka at Yogibo META VALLEY and October 1 in Tokyo at Shibuya O-EAST. The lineup features the London-based eight-piece caroline and My New Band Believe, led by former black midi member Cameron Picton. Special guest DJs include Rough Trade founder Jeff Travis and co-owner Janet Lee.

In addition to the concerts, a pop-up store is operating at Tower Records Shibuya until October 4, offering branded merchandise such as tote bags, hoodies, and slipmats. An after-party is also scheduled for October 2 at Ebisu KATA, which will include a special screening of the documentary ‘REBEL DREAD HARDWARE presents Acme Attractions Era’, a film reflecting on the London punk scene through the lens of Don Letts.
