Ruta 144 remains closed following propane tanker overturn

National Route 144 remains closed in both directions at Cuesta de los Terneros, San Rafael, following a semi-trailer tanker accident involving propane gas. The incident occurred at kilometer 685 after the driver reported brake issues, causing the vehicle to overturn and resulting in a gas leak from a valve.

Emergency operations involving the Mendoza Police, specialized firefighters, Gendarmería Nacional, and drone units have established a security perimeter. While crews have worked to reposition the tanker and transfer the load, adverse weather conditions have delayed the removal of the vehicle.

A specialized transport vehicle from Cipolletti is expected to arrive on Saturday to facilitate the removal of the tanker. The road will remain closed until the cargo is safely transferred and security conditions are verified. Travelers between Mendoza and Malargüe are advised to use Route 40 via Pareditas and El Sosneado as an alternative.
