Route 70 westbound to close in Cherry Hill for construction
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has scheduled a westbound closure of Route 70 in Cherry Hill, Camden County, for the weekend of September 19–20. The closure will occur between 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday to facilitate the demolition of a culvert located under the center lane.
During this period, a detour will be implemented directing westbound motorists via Cuthbert Boulevard/CR 636 to Route 38 West and back to Route 70. Additionally, the right lane of Cuthbert Boulevard/CR 636 northbound will be closed to manage congestion and ensure safety during the detour.
This work is part of a larger $153 million state-funded Route 70 corridor safety and improvement project. The broader initiative includes upgrading traffic signals at 27 intersections, improving drainage and sidewalks, resurfacing approximately 9 miles of roadway, and upgrading gas and water mains.
