Route du Rhum solo sailing race to depart Saint-Malo

The 13th Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe is scheduled to depart from Saint-Malo for Pointe-à-Pitre on November 1. The Class40 category features its largest and most diverse fleet to date, with 49 entries.

Among the competitors is Belgian sailor Jonas Gerckens, who returns to the race following a withdrawal in 2022 due to technical issues and health concerns. Other notable participants include Djemila Tassin and Amaury de Jamblinne de Meux, who will compete in the Vintage Mono class.

Alpina, the official timekeeper of the race, is marking the event with the release of two limited-edition timepieces: the Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic and the Alpiner Extreme Solarmetre. The race aims to challenge the current record of six days, nineteen hours, forty-seven minutes, and twenty-five seconds.
