Nymburk City Hall raided by police over public contracts

The National Center for Organized Crime (NCOZ) conducted a police raid on the Nymburk City Hall and several other locations in the Czech Republic. The operation focused on suspected criminal activity related to the awarding of public contracts, specifically involving projects such as a swimming pool, a winter stadium, and a gymnasium.

During the raid, police detained five individuals, including Nymburk Mayor Tomáš Mach and Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Vocásek. However, all detained persons were subsequently released without being charged. Mayor Mach stated that he did not influence any contracts and has since returned to his duties at the municipal office.

The investigation is being supervised by the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Prague. Police also conducted searches at the offices of the water and sewage company, VaK Nymburk, though company representatives stated the investigation did not concern their firm.
