Rovigo honors beloved local cat Rossini with exhibition and statue

The city of Rovigo is hosting a photographic exhibition to honor Rossini, a beloved red cat that became a local celebrity and unofficial mascot of the historic center. Originally rescued from ruins in Bosnia in 2013, Rossini was brought to Italy and became famous for his social nature, frequently visiting shops, bars, public offices, and even the local theater.

Following his tragic death in a traffic accident on February 14, the community has organized several tributes to preserve his memory. These include a concert by the Filarmonica Veneta and the unveiling of a bronze statue created by artist Alberto Cristini, which has been presented to the Municipality to ensure a permanent presence in the city center.
