Rovinj Summer Festival launches with diverse classical music program

The 31st edition of the Rovinj Summer Festival opened in the Church of St. Euphemia, Rovinj, Croatia, with a concert by the Istrian Chamber Orchestra under conductor Petra Matošević. Founder and artistic director Katja Markotić performed as mezzo‑soprano alongside violinist Letizia Ulika Roce, guitarist Alejandro Córdova and organist Elena Roce. The program featured works by Handel, Bach, Giuliani, Respighi and Vivaldi.

The festival will run through the end of September, offering ten concert evenings that include domestic and international soloists, piano trios, string and wind ensembles from Croatia, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Upcoming highlights include a Prague trio in July, Austrian piano trio Accio in early August, piano duo Epidaurus, a "Romantic Duets" concert, Italian piano trio Aurilio, Zagreb string quartet Cadenza, Italian pianist Alessandra Cesara, a duo from Budapest and the Italian wind trio Perdifiato, which will close the festival.

The event underscores the festival’s international character and its role in enriching the cultural life of Istria.
