Rowan Marshall traded from St Kilda to Geelong Cats
St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall has been traded to the Geelong Cats after requesting a move for the second consecutive off-season. The deal was finalized on Thursday morning, with St Kilda receiving pick No. 14 in exchange for the contracted player. Geelong provided a 2028 third-round pick as part of the negotiations.
Marshall, who played 177 games for the Saints after joining as a rookie, had previously sought a move to Geelong but was unsuccessful last year. The situation reportedly escalated recently when Marshall did not attend the club’s Trevor Barker Award.
St Kilda co-captain Cal Wilkie addressed the situation, stating that while the playing group will miss Marshall as a competitor and teammate, there are no ill-feelings within the locker room. The trade follows St Kilda’s efforts to secure a player to be attached to the deal, a condition Geelong initially resisted before reaching an agreement.
