Rowing competitors secure medals at South American Games 2026

Rowing competitions at the 2026 South American Games in Santa Fe saw significant podium finishes for Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay.

Chilean twins Antonia and Melita Abraham secured a gold medal in the men's coxless pair event, finishing the 2,000-meter race with a time of 7:12.64. They finished 6.64 seconds ahead of the Paraguayan duo, Nicole Martínez and Alejandra Alonso, while Uruguay's Ynela Aires and Zoe Acosta took the bronze.

In the men's coxless pair, Argentina's Agustín Annese and Fernando Álvarez from Club de Regatas La Plata earned a bronze medal, finishing behind the Chilean pair (César Abaroa and Marcelo Poo) and the Uruguayan pair (Leandro Rodas and Luciano García).

In the men's eight with coxswain, the Argentine crew—consisting of Fernando Álvarez, Joel Romero, Joaquín Riveros, Agustín Annese, Ignacio Pacheco, Máximo Pacheco, Emiliano Calderón, Martín Mansilla, and coxswain Anika Fucile—won the silver medal. The gold medal in this category was awarded to Uruguay.
