Roy Black legacy: Son discusses inheritance and singer's roots
Torsten Höllerich, son of the late German Schlager legend Roy Black, has shared details regarding his father's estate and the singer's lasting impact on his hometown. In a recent interview, Höllerich revealed that the total inheritance following Roy Black's death in 1991 amounted to approximately 1.2 million Deutsche Marks, which was divided among three heirs. Höllerich stated he received roughly 400,000 Marks but noted that the funds have since been exhausted.
In his birthplace of Straßberg, located in the Augsburg district, Roy Black—born Gerhard Höllerich—is still remembered through local landmarks. A street named after him and a commemorative tree serve as tributes to the singer, who rose to fame with hits such as ‘Ganz in weiß’ and ‘Sweet baby mein’. Local accounts suggest his musical journey began at the ‘Reichsadler’ inn, where he learned to play the guitar.
