Roy Cooper campaign issues cease-and-desist over health inquiries

The campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Roy Cooper issued a cease-and-desist letter to the North State Journal following inquiries regarding the 69-year-old candidate’s health. The letter, sent by the Elias Law Group, threatened legal action and issued a categorical denial of any health conditions that would prevent Cooper from completing a full six-year Senate term.

The North State Journal reported that while most of its previous inquiries to the campaign went unanswered, the response to health-related questions arrived within approximately five and a half hours. The legal response specifically addressed and denied suggestions that Cooper is “experiencing a neurological issue.”

In contrast, Republican candidate Michael Whatley’s campaign responded to similar inquiries by stating he has no health issues and is committed to completing his term.
