Roy Cooper leads Michael Whatley in North Carolina Senate poll

A new poll from High Point University and YouGov shows Democrat Roy Cooper leading Republican Michael Whatley 50% to 42% in the race for North Carolina’s U.S. Senate seat. This contest is considered a significant battleground in the national effort to determine control of the Senate.

In the North Carolina Supreme Court race, Democratic incumbent Justice Anita Earls holds a narrow 46% to 44% lead over Republican former state Representative Sarah Stevens. This margin falls within the poll’s 3.8% confidence interval, making the race too close to call.

The polling data was collected between August 3 and August 12, surveying 800 registered voters and 660 likely voters. Election Day is scheduled for November 3.
