Roy Griak Invitational moves to Fort Snelling for 40th anniversary
The 40th annual Roy Griak Invitational is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, hosted by the University of Minnesota. This year marks a significant change for the event as it moves to the Fort Snelling Golf Course, ending a 39-year tenure at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
University of Minnesota head coach Sarah Hopkins noted that while the new venue requires logistical adjustments and course preparation, the event aims to maintain its tradition of providing a high-energy, festival-like atmosphere for high school, collegiate, and community runners.
Winona State University's cross country teams are also preparing for the meet. The women's team is seeking to repeat their 2025 first-place finish, led by Stella Rusch, who recently earned NSIC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors. The men's team features Wyatt Harmoning, who recently recorded a personal best in the 5k.
