Roy Suryo and Dr. Tifa Not Detained as Prosecutor Takes Over Case
Police arrested former minister Roy Suryo and doctor Tifauzia Tyassuma (Dr. Tifa) on 19 June 2026, describing the raid as "brutal" and likening it to the film G30S/PKI. After the arrest, the police handed over the investigation files and the suspects to the Jakarta South Prosecutor’s Office (stage II transfer).
The prosecutor decided not to order detention, stating that the suspects' families offered to act as guarantors, the suspects submitted written commitments to cooperate, and that detention authority now lies with the prosecution. Kapolri Listyo Sigit Prabowo said, "Penangguhan penahanan saat ini sudah beralih ke institusi Kejaksaan," confirming that police duties were completed.
Activist Eggi Sudjana criticized the decision, claiming that if the prosecutor does not detain the suspects despite potential penalties over five years, the reason must be political, not legal. The two suspects remain free but must report weekly to the court as the case proceeds.
