Roy Suryo faces possible detention in Indonesia's Jokowi diploma investigation

Lawyer Ahmad Khozinuddin said the police and prosecutors are hesitant in handling the case concerning former President Joko Widodo's diploma, which has led to Roy Suryo being named a suspect. He invoked the legal principle "In dubio pro reo" and argued that authorities should drop the case if doubts remain.

Ade Darmawan, a member of President Jokowi’s legal team, visited Jakarta’s Metro Police Headquarters to submit a letter requesting the immediate detention of Roy Suryo and other suspects. Darmawan argued that, given Suryo’s prior convictions, detention is appropriate under standard criminal procedure.

Both developments highlight ongoing disputes over the handling of the alleged diploma falsification case within Indonesia’s law‑enforcement and judicial bodies.
