Roy Williams honors brother killed at the Pentagon on 9/11

Roy Williams, the director of public relations for the Birmingham Public Library, is dedicated to preserving the memory of his brother, Army Major Dwayne Williams, who died at the Pentagon during the September 11 attacks.

Dwayne Williams was a prominent figure in his hometown of Jacksonville, known for being a star athlete and a pioneer in local education as a participant in the integration of Jacksonville City Schools and the first Black president of his class. Roy Williams seeks to ensure his brother remains remembered, noting that while seven people from Alabama died on 9/11, his family has worked to keep Dwayne’s legacy alive through consistent remembrance.
