Royal Air Maroc to adopt Starlink and expands US cargo routes

Royal Air Maroc is set to become the first African commercial airline to implement Starlink connectivity. Following negotiations, the Moroccan national carrier aims to equip its entire fleet with SpaceX’s satellite technology by 2027, an acceleration from previous 2028 targets. The rollout will begin with a testing phase on select aircraft using Earth Station in Motion systems to provide broadband services.

In addition to technological upgrades, Royal Air Maroc Cargo has expanded its international reach by operating three weekly flights between Casablanca and Los Angeles. Utilizing Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the airline is the only African carrier providing a direct connection between the continent and the U.S. West Coast. This route facilitates trade between North America, Africa, and Asia, linking Los Angeles to Beijing via the Casablanca hub.
