Royal Antwerp FC hunts investors as it eyes Calvin Stengs return

Royal Antwerp FC is confronting a cash‑flow shortfall and has extended the deadline to find new financing. The club carries a loss of about €0.5 million for the 2022‑23 season after a €12 million deficit the year before. A £35 million loan from the British fund Fasanara remains secured against club shares, and a consortium involving media entrepreneur Wouter Vandenhaute and former player Toby Alderweireld has been floated as a possible new ownership group, prompting mixed reactions from supporters.

At the same time, sporting director Marc Overmars has placed Dutch winger Calvin Stengs on the club’s transfer list. Stengs, who previously impressed on loan at Antwerp before a €6 million move to Feyenoord, saw his market value drop to €4.5 million after an unproductive spell in Italy. He remains under contract until 2027, and Antwerp hopes to bring him back for the upcoming season if Feyenoord agrees to a deal.
