Royal Astronomical Society announces 2023 award winners

The Royal Astronomical Society has announced its 2023 award winners, recognizing significant achievements in astronomy and geophysics.

Professor John Peacock of the University of Edinburgh received the Gold Medal in Astronomy for his contributions to cosmology, including his work on the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey and the study of supermassive black holes. Professor Timothy Palmer of the University of Oxford was awarded the Gold Medal for Geophysics for his advancements in understanding and predicting medium-term climate and weather phenomena.
