Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 placed under trusteeship

The BC/Yukon Command of the Royal Canadian Legion has placed Branch 88 in Maple Ridge under trusteeship due to significant governance and operational concerns. In a letter sent to members on September 27, Command President Bob Underhill cited issues regarding financial and operational sustainability, adherence to proper procedures, internal executive conflict, and various member complaints.

Effective immediately, the branch's powers and by-laws have been suspended, and the existing executive has stood down. A team of trustees—Glenn Hodge, Rosanne Mitchell, and Len Bykowski—has been appointed to manage all branch operations and authority until the branch meets the required protocols of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The trustees will conduct a comprehensive review of all committees, financial records, revenue, and expenses. They will also investigate issues related to a local housing development and work with the membership to establish a local management committee to assist with ongoing operations.
