Royal Canadian Legion branch in Maple Ridge placed under trusteeship
The Royal Canadian Legion's BC/Yukon Command has placed the Maple Ridge Branch 88 under trusteeship due to significant governance and operational concerns. Bob Underhill, president of the BC/Yukon Command, cited issues regarding financial and operational sustainability, adherence to proper procedures, internal executive conflict, and complaints from members.
Effective immediately, the branch's current executive has stood down and its powers and by-laws have been suspended. A team of trustees—Glenn Hodge, Rosanne Mitchell, and Len Bykowski—has been appointed to manage the branch's operations and authority until it meets the protocols and procedures required by the Royal Canadian Legion.
The trustees will conduct an examination of all branch committees, reviewing finances, revenue, expenses, and the relationship between the branch and a local housing development to ensure proper management.
