Royal Canadian Legion branches celebrate 100th anniversaries
Multiple branches of the Royal Canadian Legion are celebrating their 100th anniversaries. In Cranbrook, Branch 24 marked its centennial with a ceremony at the Cenotaph, featuring speeches from local dignitaries and the unveiling of new fencing and lighting designed to protect the memorial.
In Sooke, Branch 54 is also approaching its centennial. The branch has seen membership grow from 400 to over 1,000 members. Leadership at the Sooke branch is focusing on infrastructure upgrades and expanding programming—such as music events and card leagues—to attract younger generations and ensure the organization's longevity.
