Royal Canin hosts Cat Day 2026 to promote feline aging care

Royal Canin hosted Cat Day 2026 in Mexico City to highlight the importance of feline aging and responsible pet ownership. The event focused on the seventh birthday of cats, a milestone that marks the beginning of a new life stage where biological changes may occur that are not immediately visible to owners.

Veterinary experts emphasized that the transition to maturity requires proactive prevention, specialized nutrition, and veterinary medicine to ensure long-term well-being. A 2026 study by the company revealed that in Mexico, 51 percent of pet owners avoid discussing their pets' aging, with 53 percent citing sadness as the reason. Despite this, 92 percent of owners acknowledge that they could improve the care provided to their cats and dogs as they age.

Fabiola Rocha, Scientific Communication Manager at Royal Canin, stated that the goal is not just for cats to live longer, but to live better through prevention and proper care. The event included specialists, such as Tamara Iturbide Cossio from CEMEGATOS, to provide owners with tools to manage the challenges of feline aging.
