Royal Castle in Warsaw opens Stefan Żeromski apartment exhibition
The Royal Castle in Warsaw has opened a new exhibition featuring the former three-room apartment of the renowned Polish writer Stefan Żeromski. The apartment, which the author occupied toward the end of his life starting in 1924, was originally granted to him by President Stanisław Wojciechowski in recognition of his contributions to Polish culture.
While the original furnishings were destroyed during World War II, the new arrangement recreates the atmosphere of the writer's home using memorabilia donated by his daughter, including books with handwritten notes. The exhibition allows visitors to view the Vistula River through the castle's famous window and listen to excerpts of Żeromski's literary works.
